Autonomous Trade Union of Employees in Banks, Insurance Companies and other financial organizations of Serbia – SS BOFOS was established on June 21, 2002. It organizes employees in banks, insurance companies and financial institutions. SS BOFOS is affiliated with the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia (CATUS). CATUS is a trade union organization with the longest tradition in Serbia, and it is composed of 29 professional federations, covering all professions in the whole Serbia. One of these professional federations is SS BOFOS.
The number of SS BOFOS members is constantly increasing. Currently SS BOFOS has approximately 8,000 members. Most of the members are women.
SS BOFOS’s activities are in a larger part related to collective agreements conclusion, to education and training of leaders and members, to betterment of internal organization, better communication and information. SS BOFOS is an organization which goal is to adequately provide all necessary assistance and protection to the members. Since the majority of the SS BOFOS members are working in multinational companies, the union cooperates with many international organizations dealing with the protection and improvement of workers' rights.
International financial crises have brought new problems that are primarily related to the financial sector. The banking sector is one of those areas with the strongest mobbing manifestation. Because of that, SS BOFOS’s activities are aimed at mobbing prevention. Better informed and more aware SS BOFOS membership regarding issues of mobbing prevention is one of the most important goals of SS BOFOS.
